Formation and Properties of Oxide Coatings with Immobilized Zeolites Obtained by Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation of Aluminum

In this paper, we employed plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) of aluminum in a water solution sodium tungstate (Na2WO4?2H2O) with the addition pure and Ce-loaded zeolites clinoptilolite 13 X for preparation oxide coatings. The obtained coatings were characterized respect to their morphologies chemical phase compositions using scanning electron microscopy coupled energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, diffraction. prepared contained ?-alumina, WO3, metallic tungsten. surface strongly depended on PEO processing time; roughness all increased time, while porosity decreased time as result microdischarge coalescence growth. All elements originating from substrate electrolytes. Coatings containing Ce showed higher photoactivity than those immobilized zeolites. highest photocatalytic activity levels observed Ce-exchanged processed 10 min. It was that both 13X improved features similar manner, making natural abundant an excellent candidate various applications.
